Dave, it's always tricky to get the right shutter speed. Some trial and error reviewing previous shots and adjusting ISO and possibly adding ND filters is always experimental. I like to show motion in my water based images...but too long of an exposure removes all texture in the water and leaves a "too silky" version for my liking's.

I guessed as much. It would be probably harder to do this scene in one exposure (without any filters) with the Canon 5DS sensor. That is, it won't provide as much headroom and noise advantage as the Sony.
