So I just came back from a short trip to Sacramento, Lessen National Park, and Lake Tahoe. It's crazy up there. The smoke is so intense... I drove for over 4 hours from Sacramento to Lessen NP and I was constantly in a huge dense cloud of smoke. It was very hard to drive and breath. Also, lots of roads were closed and it was hard to navigate. Thanks to google maps and their constant road conditions updates I was able to arrive to the park, and back to my hotel.
On the first image from Lake Tahoe the clouds in the sky you see are actually the above mentioned smoke. It diffused the light of the sun and made it appear very reddish, which is something I tried to capture on the second image zoomed in to 400mm on just the Bonsai tree on the top of the famous Bonsais Rock.
The remaining three images are my recently processed shots from the Eureka dunes you guys saw in my previous post.
Both images from Lake Tahoe are shot with my favorite Singh-Ray's Gold-N-Blue filter.
Beautiful images, Gregg! Love the colors in the first image, and love the first two dunes images for their patterns and detail (very nicely processed, in my opinion).

After the sunset at the so called blue hour time they become more whitish. The WB will be shifted towards blue...
Also polarizers add blue color cast making images look whitish specially in case of dunes etc. I guess this is a reason some companies like Sighn-Ray has warning polarizer instead to remove the blue color cast.
The last reason is my PP preference. I like them this way

Excellent images, though I have one question:
have Eureka Sand Dunes changed colour?
I'm sure they were not that colour the last time I was there
They look more like White Sands?
Fantastic Gregg!
Ever getting masterful, indeed!
1st image is pure sensational.
I do have a question on the "Singh-Ray's Gold-N-Blue filter."
What size, 77mm or 82mm, would you recommend?
Thanks.
All great shots, thanks for sharing! My eyes are particularly drawn to the light sunstar in #1 (many times they are over done, this is perfect), glow in the branches of #2, and texture in the middle dune in #4.
Check your lens’ thread size and get the one that matches it. It’s a screw on filter.

Dune shots are my favorite. I myself have lately started shooting more intimate desertscapes and shifting exposure and WB towards white and sliding clarity to the left to take out contrast and detail, which are rarely a necessity in a dersertscape. Very cool.
