Wonderful work. If it were my photo I'd restore some detail in the rim lighting, and perhaps crop it a bit closer.

I actually prefer the original as well because it gives her more room all around. Just seems more relaxed and not "crowded".

I don't mind the crop but did you also reduce highlights or something? Her face seems darker or more subdued or something. I like the first better.
