A great set of images. I have still not seen a badger even though I have been there quite a few times. A few raptors are always present near the light house. Drakes beach is another location very close and you will find elephant seals on the beach.

_______
I'm missing out on some of those critters because mostly I go to the the Fish Docks and Lighthouse for elephant seals, deer, a coyote once, and Tomales Point for elk. The area around Fish Docks and Lighthouse are mostly open terrain so there's less brush and other vegetation to accommodate those shots Eric got elsewhere.

You really lucked out with so many wildlife species. I've been there many, many times and still haven't seen a skunk, badger, bobcat or peregrine falcon. Well done.
P.S. An occasional mountain lion may show up too. And if you drove up the road to the Tomales Point you would see elk herds.
I think had did this on my own the number of species I'd have seen would have been close to zero...if you want a chance to see these critters then Daniel Dietrich of Pt. Reyes Safaris is the one to go with.

Very nice set, Eric! Love the backlit shot on #12.
Thanks Bobby....we were hoping for some mid air food transfers but they all happened on top of the cliff...c'est la vie.

You got to see some great creatures Eric! I always like the feel of the fog shots
You were plenty to close to the action buddy, isn't a Badger one to stay away from
What a great outing, good for you
Karl
Thanks Karl....we were uber lucky with all we got to see and in the moody light too. Badgers can be bad ass for sure but the risk is more likely they'd run away and we'd not get the photo...so we stayed in the car until it moved out of decent range....once it spotted us however, the jig was up and all the shots I managed at that juncture were much much too far away.

Fantastic shots Eric. #3 is my favorite. I was here once several years ago. Went w family so didn't have much time for wildlife. Need to go back....
It is a fabulous place and I would be happy going back over and over...there is so much variety and the possibilities are endless...thanks for the nice words

I was there twice, first time was similar lighting to yours.
All of them are really nice. I like the pouncing 'yote and the falcon best.
I would make some nice prints of those.
No elk?
Thanks so much....I have had 2 amazing visits...4 bobcats, 2 badgers, lots of elk, harriers, red tails, skunks with babies, coyotes.....a treasure trove.

A delightful set Eric. Love the first shot. Humidity is paying havoc with the owl's doo. All limp looking. Good looking elk shot. All round quality.
Thanks Ken...yes, it was a Play Misty for Me morning....it's a very special place and glad I've finally found it.

Ya got skunked Eric - but in a good way. Very well done with great variety. 7 and 14 stand out ~ Ron
Thanks Ron...on my first visit I saw a whole skunk family but too far away to photograph...this guy let us get as close as we dared....usually pointing its most dangerous part towards us....staying out of range was very important....we circled to the front and got only a few shots of its face.

Thanks Bob...yes, you must go there but make sure you contact Daniel Dietrich to guide you.....it's well worth it.

Eric, amazing set. I am really enjoying these shots. Such beautiful atmospheric quality to them.
All wonderful , but a few really stand out for me.
1. What a gorgeous shot go the owl. Absolutely am in entranced by the environment, the fog and composition. You have managed to capture the feel of the it, from the wet look of the owl to the muted colors.
7. Great action shot. Loveing all the similar tones.
12. Those cliff walls really add to this shot with the lines and tones. The light on the bird is beautiful.
All those complimentary tones are very pleasing. I personally would remove the bird dropping

Thank you...I went with a few target species in mind and my guide, Daniel Dietrich, is a master at finding what I was hoping for. Certainly, as I return at some point I will look for the elephant seals and grey whales that make the area home.

Great captures. Bobcat is always my favorite!
Eric, it looks like the new gear comes through just fine or actually with flying colors, even under those lighting conditions. Well, we all know that it is more the person behind the camera that counts more. I am impressed with the variety of wildlife you could get there at Point Reyes. The jumping coyote image is simply awesome.

Joshua
Thanks Joshua....it has been fun yet somewhat frustrating trying to adapt to new gear but I am happy so far with the results. Pt. Reyes, which for me, until just a few months ago was just a place an hour north of my son is now a place I must visit on a regular basis. The quantity of wildlife, if you (or more precisely your guide) knows where to look is astounding. I have been fortunate to see 4 bobcats but haven't managed to get one photographed the way I'd like despite watching successful stalking and hunting. The heat waves have most often wrecked havoc when I though I had something special. So I will return and hope for another opportunity.
