I take a lot of candid photos of my kids, but hardly any portraits. I think this was my first time actually photographing all of them... hopefully I'll do this more often...
I like the ones where I pulled slightly back, but overall quite happy.
I love this! I really appreciate your son in right top row for being unable to not laugh or look at the camera. This is a keeper, print big and display proudly.

thanks! The hardest part was keeping them there long enough for me to get a real smile or laugh (and manually focusing at 1.2 while I'm at it), my kids have the worst fake smiles. they get that from me...
These are great. Expressions are wonderful. Personally, I don't think you needed such shallow DOF (blurry ears), but the smiles override that by a long way. Voted.

Thanks Jim! Yeah I remember your proclivity for deeper dof I appreciate the feedback
I like the rendering that the shallow dof gives, but also the wall behind was quite textured and it looked much better blurred out
Those are really wonderful pictures! You should be really proud of yourself! This is of course just my opinion, however I wish they had some (more) catch light in their eyes (I think a reflector at the bottom should do the trick). Anyway, congratulation!

thanks man! yeah more catchlights would be nice, I'm too lazy for reflectors though
