This isn’t directly answering your question, but just pointing out to you there’s a new “round head” model being released in the line that cuts the recycle time down under 1.5 seconds. Think it’s the “X” in Flashpoint or the “ “V1” for Godox. Not sure the kind of speed you’re looking for.

I just opened a new topic last night, asking for feedback on the 60RM recycling speed. I'll ask the same question here: how fast is the recycling speed? I'm totally underwhelmed by my Godox TT685 and Flashpoint Li-On R2. Much too slow for my event work in low to average lighting, even with a Turbo attached.

Any evidence out there of any light quality benefit to the round shape? I like to use flash for outdoor portrait photography, but not sure a round flash head would increase light quality over traditional, other than it might look cooler to use a round flash since its the new thing and FlashPoint/Godox seem to be very good value in general. 1.5 seconds recycle time is of course useful.
A number of YouTubers have done “tests” with it that show a much nicer pattern than a typical fresnel head owing to the round shape and additional bit of diffusion from the front panel. But it’s still a relatively tiny light source and fairly harsh when used bare directly on subjects. If used in a modifier the shape might reduce some hotspots.
It hasn’t been released yet though so this is just looking at the stuff by folks with early review units. The head is similar in design to the round head attachment for the evolv200/AD200, which I like more than the fresnel head, but mostly for the ease of attaching accessories.

Just purchased the F60RM and like it but there doesn't seem to be any way to use it as a slave in manual mode (optically triggered), too bad.
That's a possibility for some cases but I was also hoping to use the upcoming profoto A1 for sony on the body and trigger the sony flash off-camera (both in manual mode).
Why have you postponed the A1 for Sony to 2019?
We are dedicated to high quality products. Sometimes final qualification and sourcing of critical components takes longer than expected.
When during 2019 will the A1 for Sony be released?
It will available during the first half of 2019.

One thing to point out is that the catchlight is round based on the shape of the head (or, alternatively, the modifier in front of the head). But there's an example of the light pattern from a round head (with and without fresnel) in this link: http://flashhavoc.com/flashpoint-evolv-200-ad200-round-head-announced/

Of course, there's so much to consider with lighting - distance from subject, any light modifiers and distance of the light to the modifier and the modifier to subject, spill, etc. Maybe also, there's some engineering things to consider in manufacturing the light and the accessories, weight considerations, ergonomics.
