I like the image _and_ the story it tells!
Thanks - and as they say a picture is worth a thousand words - and for me a story to tell!

Wow, great shot! Looks like the mountains in the movie Touching the Void, great movie, if you haven’t seen it.

Thanks! That movie was a further north but the same mountain range. The peak behind the clouds to the right is Fitz Roy - one of the most technically challenging mountains for mountaineers on Earth with only a handful of successful ascents.

Dave,
This is absolutely stunning. It's one of those images that is almost haunting by its composition and beauty. Really well done. Thanks for sharing.
Chuck
Wow - thanks for your encouraging words!

Beautiful. Taming the bright portion of the sky would make it even stronger.
Thanks Rajan for the critique. I hear you and did a lot of taming in that bright portion - would probably have to do some replacement to do it justice.

I keep saying to myself, "Must not look at plane tickets to Chile" After looking at images like this, I think I am likely to fail!
Beautiful image! What a fantastic place. I like this better than the first images at the beginning of the trail.
Ryan
If you book plane tickets to Chile you are sure to fail. This place is in Argentina :-) And, as far as I know, for the last couple of years hiking to this particular location along the Rio Blanco is not allowed. Pretty much any off-trail hiking in Los Glacieres is, if you follow the rules, off limits.

Dave - I like this a lot. Well balanced in the foreground elements - and with the clouds - the mountain balances too. Been thinking it would have been nice to see Fitz Roy during our visit this evening - but starting to appreciate the fact that the mountain from this vantage is too far right. In the end - we lucked out - or at least that's what I'm going to keep telling myself when I think back about what a pain in the ass it was to get there!

Fitz Roy actually is on the very right side of the frame from this vintage point. It is behind that cloud on the upper right, above that ridge on the right side of the frame.
Truly beautiful and ditto guidostow about the tonal palette. Everything, shapes and colors, fit together perfectly. You're so lucky to get to Patagonia..
I have to stay away from the landscape because I have work to do and once you set down here it's so difficult to get away.
I am sure I commented already, but what amazes me about this now is how natural but powerful it feels at the same time! Congrats! Hang it high! Lumachrome HD out of Nevada Art Printers. By a LARGE margin the best color photo paper in the world.
