We took a 2 week road trip over the kids' spring break this year and went to Monument Valley, Chaco Canyon, and White Sands. I'm still editing these photos but wanted to share! The kids had SO much fun there - we'd take them there 3 or 4 hours before sunset and they'd wear themselves out sledding down the dunes, and then spend 45 minutes doing photos at sunset. What a magical place! I can't wait to go back. The sunsets are all 100% real - sometimes photographed as a separate exposure and combined in Photoshop. I will add more as I edit them! These are all MUCH better viewed bigger, but this is what I have in my Flickr account...

And a couple from Chaco Canyon (AMAZING - if you ever have the chance to visit, DO. Such a spiritual place!) and Monument Valley...
Another nice set from an obviously great location.
Something weird, however, going on with the last one.
Look at the mountains in the background. Too obvious post-processing IMO (looks like they were cut out with scissors). There is no reason they should be so sharp with everything in front and behind them OOF.
In (5) (6) and (9), a bit of clean up on the sand would take these nice images to a higher level IMO.
Thank you again guys. I re-worked #13. I wasn't happy with that one either. I tried editing it on my laptop while on the road, and it kept crapping out on me due to lack of RAM, so I just quit and saved it as is. It really looked bad. I'm much happier with it now. I wish I could replace the one in my original post, but alas....
Thank you Greg. I'm definitely much happier with it. I'm usually better at blending foregrounds and backgrounds, but my laptop kept freezing on me and I pretty much just gave up and saved it. lol
