That is some crazy cloud action, Fred. All of them are outstanding images.
My fav is the one from the 21mm as the mountains and those clouds seem so well-aligned with one another!

Fine work, Fred. I lean to the 2nd. I like how the clouds mesh with the valley.

#2. Like the cloud shapes/formation the best, and the warmth in the rock faces below. Beautiful light!
I like 4 and 6. 4 because it shows the entire scene and 6 because it's nice and clean. They all have amazing light/clouds. Beautiful work from you as always

Awesome set, Fred!
Thanks for all comments and feedback. I truly appreciate it!
They are ALL fantastic Fred but my favorite is #2. It encompasses the waterfall, great sky, great color and the foreground locks the composition with scale, depth and emotion. Half Dome encompasses the great color and light from the reflections off the sun/clouds yet the valley floor and surroundings are not influenced by the reflected color on the rock. The surroundings retain their own color yet enhances each others own uniqueness.
Great image and images!

Hey Fred - I also like the images with the CV40. I like the overall balance to the compositions. The colors are phenomenal with that lens!
The sky helped that day too. Thanks for your comment Bob!

Thanks Dan! I could never guess the 21mm image would be the favorite of so many members. It was just an experiment as the most common focal length for this location is around 35-50mm+.

I'm actually surprised that the second (21mm capture) is a favorite from many who comment here.
Thanks for the feedback!
I would consider the 21mm shot a context shot, an important piece of the whole in a study of the scene. I'm pretty sure I even have 14mm shots of this valley. I would consider number 3 to be the money shot although the bottom border is a little tight, I presume to keep the two big trees on the right from becoming a distraction.
I have always had trouble blowing the skies at this location at sunrise with my Canon cams partly b/c of equipment limitations but mostly b/c of experience limitations. Now that I think I've dealt with both limitations, I'd like to get back out to Yosemite and capture some skies like you've done with these images.
I will have to go with the others Fred, the 21mm is also my favourite. I guess its because the clouds and mountains lead the eye to the middle of the image. There is more "time" to look at everything you know?
The processing is also lovely with those red clouds.

Yes, nowadays camera sensors are much improved. IMO, There isn't even a need for gradual ND filters anymore and I didn't use any filters for any of these images. Thanks for the feedback on number 2 and #3. I really appreciated it!

Crazy wonderful light Fred! Congratulations. Hard to pick a favorite. They are all eye candy.
Thanks Mark. The sky was bold at night when I got there and luckily the clouds started to move right when the light was right.

Well, maybe not since they're Have you tried merging the last two in a vertical pano? well maybe not since they're at different levels...The sky on the second set is absolutely awesome...
All nice but I like #2 because it shows the u-shaped valley but the foreground valley could use some more lighting for definition. The one of Bridalveil falls is also nice, my next choice.
