I recently had the opportunity to swing through the San Luis valley in Colorado. This valley sits adjacent to my favorite Colorado mountain range; the Sangre de Cristos. Being a high desert valley, the landscape providing foreground to the mountains is often dry, windy, and desolate. The valley is also poor; paved roads are sparse and agriculture is the economic mainstay for many. This area will not be confused with numerous postcard perfect Colorado mountain scenes that usher in countless visitors from out of state. In this set I hope to capture the essence of what it is to experience late day sun on the mountain range as viewed from one of the many wind swept dirt-roads that crisscross the landscape.
