Last Saturday, I made another trip to the Sax-Zim Bog in Northern Minnesota which is the winter home of the Great Gray Owl. The last time I was there in December I wanted to capture the Great Gray hunting but was unlucky.
This is about the end of the season as the Great Grays retreat into the deep woods to nest and it is almost impossible to locate them there because of the deep snow and rough terrain.
I spent almost the whole day starting from 7am looking for them but found only 2 perched on power lines and that too against the sun. I was finally rewarded in the late afternoon when I came across another 2 hunting for dinner.
Here is one particular hunting foray that I was able to capture.
Great photos! I really enjoy #1 portrait with diffused background. I like how it shows how camouflaged it is - just a natural extension of the tree trunk!

thanks for the update, I was thinking of taking a trip back there this weekend or next but not anymore, with all the warm weather the roads must be turning into mud pits
