WOW... looks like a painting in a museum.
I might lift the shadows a bit, but this is amazing

Thanks I was thinking the same thing when I saw the three ladies. Mother was weaving and the girls were observing with seemingly interest. The light was just perfect.
I actually made the picture a bit darker...
When did looking like a painting become a compliment. We are photographs and a photograph is and should be a different art form. If you want something to look like a painting be painter. Do what photograph does that no art form can do. Make photographs that look like photographs. I thought this argument was settle over a century ago with a rejection of pictorial photographs and the raise of straight photography.
I like the photograph and maybe a little more detail in the shadows I just don't think saying it looks like a painting is compliment.

Well, subjective preferences, I suppose
There is no right or wrong when it comes to art.. Even saying photography is art isn't right. Some photos are, some aren't. Or they all are. Or none are.
Personally I think we photographers shouldn't be restricted to anything. Do what kinds of photos you like and that's it. As long as you like what You are doing, you're doing it right. It's a hobby and a way of expressing yourself. Nothing more. And nothing less.

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder but art is the vision of the individual artist, whatever medium they chose to express that vision.
I think this is a fantastic photograph (both versions). I love it.
I prefer the warmer version as there is greater richness and detail in the red dresses (and detail in the shadows) and it seems the white head scarves are rendered better.
Looking at this via a calibrated monitor.
