Very soothing image, Fred. Your picture makes these formations seem so soft, when we know the material is hard and sharp. Great colors. too.
It seems that way Jeffrey. The dusk lighting seems to give a soft aspect to it.
Thanks for your feedback!

Very nice light here! Nice job.
Thanks Mark,
Just lucky as it was cloudy with no colors until this moment. My camera was actually framed about 90 degrees from this scene with a different subject but the colors only show up on this side. Mono Lake is versatile because it gives me opportunities from every angle, so I just follow the light and colors.

Beautiful shot! Maybe it is time for a little trip to Mono Lake…
I'm usually there either November or January. For calmer waters (and more reflection), I believe spring and summer are preferable.

Beautiful shot. Love being able to see a little bit of the tufa underwater, that's relatively uncommon, at least among the shots I've seen
Thanks Matt,
The tufas submerge depending on the tide level dictated by the moon stage, time or year, etc.. It's always different what I visit.
Wow.. this favorite place of mine.. wonderfully captured, Fred!
Those interesting shapes of Tufa towers are nicely pronounced with crystal like calm lake.
Love the color and details in the Tufa!

Oh how beautiful colors! Reminds me of your shot with lenticular clouds, one of the best I've seen here.

I'm glad you like this one too Francesco. The clouds were not that lenticular this time but this area is famous for creating conditions for this to happen.

Very soothing as stated and the pastel color adds to the emotion of the image.
Dan
Thanks Dan! I was afraid about color rendering using this zoom instead of my primes but it did ok.

I know you also like this location Kee. I remember your Tufas in snow image. I never saw snow there!
Best,
