Alright boys and girls, time for doing things a little different. I want to know what you don't like about the image below. Got something nice to say? I DON'T WANT TO HEAR (READ) IT!! Got something NOT nice to say - bring it on. Be constructive of course. Otherwise you're just mean. And you don't want to be mean, do you
Ok, I will play. I don't like the dark object mid way between the Pronghorns as I feel it distracts from them. And I don't like the light line in the background that intersects both of their heads. I am also not crazy about the dark object in the grass to the left of the Pronghorn that is facing us. There is plenty that I do like but this is me
I don't like the log/pile of dung(?) in the dead center of the image. It pulls you eye to it due to how dark it is then you get angry wondering why you have been looking at poop for 5 minutes.

Well done lads. Was wondering how long it would take before someone would mention the poop - bison poop as it were. Annnnnnd the answer was less than 15 minutes.
and another thing... I don't like the left Pronghorn looking at you. Seems it should be paying attention to the other PH. Turn its head a little. Otherwise, it's ni.....
Happy New Year, Henrik.

I agree with the comments above that the dark object in the middle is a distraction. Now that I know it's a pile of bison poop it is much worse than a distraction. I can't stop looking at it! Please clone that out ASAP.
Henrik,
since you asked. What are pronghorns, without horns? also do not like the light section of the sky on the right top. Also the Pronghorn on the left is leaning a bit. Hope you'll still speak to me after this.

BTW, you got my vote.
Dave
That stinking (yes, pun intended) poop always gets in the way. It reminds me of Africa when you get that great shot you’ve been longing for and then...... there’s elephant poop. And then you exclaim “poop”...or that other word for it. Alas, can’t clone it. Not now, such a conversation piece.

Ahhh, yes, good point (about the horn part). Was looking for one with horns but none were available at the time. This was Yellowstone after all. That pronghorn leaning had a limp. Ok, not really but it could’ve.
Good comments. (And we can talk anytime you want....almost ).
Hello my friend, interesting request..........heck you know me I always play these games
For me very one dimensional, BG lighting could darken to give better separation to subjects.
Boring static pose by both, one on right needs a head turn a bit to you, one on left head-on makes its ass look big
As mentioned the dark crap in the grasses pull from the soft hues of the entire image.
I will guess you focused on the one on the left, eyes are sharpest to me, perhaps the one on the right could have a bit better catchlight or slightly lighter eye area for me.
Thank you, I feel better now
Happy New Year my friend
It looks like a composite, mug-shot to my eyes Henrik. The gaping mouth on the animal in profile (perhaps a severe under-bite) is not the best-look for this animal. The stance of the animal on the left seems a little narrow and feminine. The eyelashes also seem to be a bit overdone and watch the dark eyeliner and eye shadow makeup. It seems like it might be a more candid composite creation than a finely posed wildlife photo.
Happy New Year Henrik!
Douglas
Henrik,
I like the slope of the background, but it seems wasted on the way the bodies f the pronghorns are oriented. Whenever I shoot mammals in groups, I like to see them with their bodies in the same relative plain... front/front, front/back, back/back (infrequent but can work at a watering hole). This also applies to profile/profile views. Because there is distance between the pair, the composition doesn't show a sense of engagement/interaction. For example, if the noses touching, the body postures would have worked here.
As others stated.. the poop does distract the viewer.
The animals look tentative and on guard to me. The left one obviously looking straight at you but the one on the right bothers me even more because he appears to be watching you out of the corner of his eye and is ready to bolt. This should be a serene and peaceful image but instead comes across as tense.
I like your idea BTW, makes me want to pull out an image I really like of my own and throw it to the wolves
And can I add this was very refreshing. I've gotten to the point where I'll only comment on a photo if I really like it. If it does nothing for me I just pass and move on. And I have to admit I get somewhat agitated reading endless praise and thumbs ups for clearly mediocre or less than mediocre images. I would hope that folks would do the same for anything I post. If it's subpar, either say nothing or tell me what you don't like if you prefer.

Hi Douglas.
This gave me a good chuckle. And I can see why you might think its a composite. It is not. However, perhaps the makeup was a bit much.
