It was very sad to watch a large portion of the Oregon side of the Columbia River Gorge go up in flames this year!
Fortunately, my home state has nearly endless epic waterfalls to visit, explore, photograph and enjoy! It is strange because I have been going here to photograph for years. I have been leading people here for years. And I lived very close by for years, but for some reason, I have not produced work from here, except my recent image "GLORIFY".
This image was actually taken (and processed) maybe 7 years ago. It was sitting in my "Images To Work On" folder (on my computer) and I was almost done with it years ago, but I never felt inspired to post it for some reason. But now, maybe because of the loss of a lot of popular waterfalls in the Columbia River Gorge, I feel it more interesting and valuable. We are so blessed to be able to witness such glorious beauty. I hope we never take it for granted.

Wonderful photograph, Mark.
Brilliant composition, nice job with with post-processing, and I loved how well you've captured that turbulence in the water.

Thank you very much. Hard for me to believe I took the image and processed it almost 7 years ago.
Hi Mark, I like that you didn't blur the water too much and left a piece of the sky for reference. The comp works great fo me. The you add the orton effect to it? Nice capture!

Thank you very much, Fred! Yes, a touch of custom, localized Highlight Glow (not "Orton" per se) usually finds its way into most of my images. All the best and a great holiday season to you and yours!

Very nice image Mark, very nice shutter speed
Thank you Nori. As a practice, I shoot many, many different shutter speeds for each composition around water, and then go through them all carefully in post-processing to choose which one has the most appealing characteristics to me personally.

great shot!
the fires will create habitat for different animals & different scenes for photographers
my entire computer is an "Images To Work On" folder...
I agree.
. Me too. I could likely quite shooting the rest of my life and market new images every year. I have been very blessed to do this for a full living for over a decade. I do not take that for granted.

Beautiful image. Hope the damage of the fires in the gorge was not too bad.
Thank you. We will see in the next couple of years what starts opening up again and how it looks...
But I do have to say that just Oregon alone has hundreds of waterfalls that are extremely impressive!
