My wife wanted a portrait of our son for our Christmas card, so I took these this past weekend. Normally, I would never take a portrait in direct sunlight, but I think it works here. If you disagree, please let me know. Comments and critiques are welcome. Thanks.
I think I like the second one best. You did a great job with the fill flash, it looks very natural. You're right, direct sun rarely works, but it looks good here.
I would consider some adjustments so the skin tone of his right hand and his face are closer. I might lighten the face slightly and darken the hand slightly, but it would take playing around with the image to find out what would work best.
That's a handsome young man! I'll have to drive up to Forsyth to steal your location!

Thanks for the compliments and the thoughtful critique. I hadn't really noticed how light his hand is compared to his face, but you are absolutely right. I'll have to do a little work on that and see what I can come up with.
BTW, this building is at the Rumble Rd. - U.S. 41 intersection in Smarr. I'm sure you've driven past it a thousand times.

I just did a lens test of the church there! Take Rumble road to Pea Ridge and you're in my neighborhood!
These are SOOC. The church was taken with a Canon FD 24mm f2.8
