oldrattler has enjoyed this site for a long time. It is now time to say good bye. He passed away recently from complications of pneumonia. To all that liked his photos thank you, for all that he liked your photos also thank you. This was a hard year for him. Like most that near the final stages of life, they hold the friends they have made and many of you can be counted in that group. He was a better photographer for having known you and a better person for the encouragement and criticism you provided. Now the golden light will always be his.
Oh my! I'm so sorry to hear this news. Jim was/is one of the good ones.
I have enjoyed his work very much as well as his down to earth sense of humor he often brought into his images.
My condolences to his loved ones.
I remember many of Jim's images and assignment submissions. (And I believe I will for years to come) I always enjoyed his photography and his spirit here at Fred Miranda.
He will be missed.

Jim was always a wonderful contributor to the forum both with his photography and generous commentary. He will be missed. Condolences to his family and loved ones.

I met Jim in Moab one time for lunch. He and his wife had lunch at Denny's. Great guy but he had a very extensive medical history and knew that he was on borrowed time. His courage and outlook were an inspiration. He will be missed.
We are only here for a limited time and what counts is how you impact others an living life to fullest. I read many of Jim's comments and found him to be a lifeful person and a positive guy.
Condolences to Jim's family. He will be missed here.
