Hey Gramps, you have given me goosebumps with these images and your description of how you got them! Wow, 15ft away on a stare down, that is an experience
Very nice to hear of your respect for the wildlife and your methods of obtaining your images, well done at both points and I appreciated all of them that much more
A most enjoyable post, thanks for sharing the experiences both in images and in words.....

Thank you Karl. At times I do regret not raising the camera and getting at least one really tight head on shot but in the moment I was certainly more concerned with the situation, and the guide actually thanked me afterwards for paying attention to what was going on in front of us.
Wow, fantastic images of a spectacular experience. I had a similar experience at Kinak Bay in September but with only one wolf. By the way I just became someones great grampa about fifteen minutes ago. Bruce

Thank you. "Great" grampa, now that's really special. Congratulations !
This is an amazing set of images with a great back story.
Thanks for sharing your thoughts and your photographs... these photos of the wolves are the type of dream shots that wildlife photographers only wish they had the opportunity to make.
