We all thought the back story was sad as well, but most of the birders that have witnessed years past say the adversity is likely the reason we had such a tolerant subject. Some hesitated to say they thought the owlet might even have substituted us photogs for its siblings. Who knows...

Thanks everyone. I appreciate the kind words.
That was the luck of things this time around. In the months leading up to this subject, things were terribly thin (photo-wise). If not for this guy, this breeding season would have been a little boring. I guess lots of rain isn't a guarantee of an active breeding season.
