So we had a bit of rain here north of Chicago and the Fox River that runs through my town has flooded. Kenzie, my dancer muse for the summer, lives next to the river. We did the C Jump at the place where boats are unloaded, and that's when I noticed that a dock/pier was only partially submerged in the river. It was like Serendipity in its finest hour. With her on the pier it was like she was walking/dancing on water.
We were shooting literally at dusk so I couldn't really shoot at a high shutter speed, esp once we got on the dock/pier. I added some off-camera lighting once she was on the pier, a pair of Yongnuo flashes.
5. I normally like to shoot this shot at a much faster shutter speed, but just didn't have the light to do that. I liked how you saw the water motion blur though, so I thought it worked out nicely. 1/160, ISO 3200, f/2.8 http://farm5.staticflickr.com/4316/35975179015_b005b789c5_b.jpg
Those areas are saturated, I hope your house is dry. Love all these, I'd clone out that rope cleat to complete the impression that she's walking on water.
Wow, that water level over the pier was just perfect. I looked at the pictures before reading your description of the shoot so it made the images even more magical without knowing how you did it. It's a toss up for me on #3 and #4. #4 is just so captivating. #1 and #5 are awesome and #2 certainly deserves to be in this set as well. It looks like that was a really fun shoot to do and knowing that you were racing daylight would make it even more fun.

Funny. I was editing these around 1:00 am... totally missed the rope cleat on those shots, so thanks for mentioning that. When she's doing the splits, her hands and arms are over it.
Ron my friend you just keep pilings it on week after week with more great images, fantastic stuff once more. I have said it many times in different ways but you really have an eye for composition that leads to many superb shots. Really like these.
