I spent 3 days photographing black bears in Northern Minnesota. This is one of the premier places for photographing spring cubs, mothers and yearlings. After taking about 3000 pics I'm buried in file hell, as the task of picking bests is not even close to being done. Anyway, I was pretty excited by the shoot and wanted to share a few as I sort the good from the bad.
Thanks for looking... as always, cc is welcome.
cheers,
bruce
I know where you were -- VSWS -- I've been there four times but not for a few years. Were you there on your own or with a "workshop" (Glatzer or one of the in-house ones)?
Very nice, Bruce. May I ask where these were taken? I am originally from up that way. We moved away before I got serious about photography, though. We still make several trips a year to Wisconsin and Minnesota to visit family. Please PM if you get a chance.

Hello Keith,
I was indeed at the VSWS. I last visited in 1998 and swore that I would not go there again. Since that time, the center has changed dramatically. They now regulate access to the public and have changed their mission. I was extremely impressed with the landscape, forest structure and photographic opportunities. I think I might have seen at least 40 different bears wander in and out of the center during my 3 day period... needless to say, it was a great time to be there.
I did not go on Chas's workshop and chose to do a three-day workshop sponsored by the bear center. The price was right and 100% of my money went to supporting the work they do at the American Bear Society.

Hello and thanks!
I was in Orr, MN at a wildlife sanctuary that is maintained by the American Bear Association. The wildlife sanctuary lies within an expansive tract of boreal forest that connects to Canada and Voyageurs National Park in north central Minnesota.
