p.1 #1 · #768 "pick up your shoulder in order to move your hips"

Laying the initial foundation under a green 2 year old colt....in order to move its hips, the shoulders must be in proper position. Being "physically balanced at all times" must be attained initially in any young animal before moving forward with any instructions of "how to" perform any given task. The basic goal is establishing trust. Once the animal develops trust in the handler, they will become willing to learn and please, not be resistive to any instruction. Always set the animal up to succeed, not fail when giving them direction, both mentally and physically.

Funny it was just that type of work that eventually got me into photography.... Not much compares to educating a thousand lbs in dependably thinking creature, from the ground or on board;-). Love palominos!!!
