It is that time of year again when the rhododendrons in blossom bring another episode of life along the Blue Ridge Parkway in early June. We have just completed our "Rhododendron chasing along the Parkway" photo trip beginning June the third. This was our first stop after several hours of long drive and it was about the time the sun began to set. Although the sun was actually behind a thick layer of clouds in the west, we still have worked our composition in hope that it would break and shine for a while. Patience paid and we were treated with such a wonderful evening glow.

Hi LSExplorer (what's your name?),

I really like the composition and the flowers are in perfect shape. There are a couple of blurry leaves at the bottom that could use some processing attention. I find the Orton to be a little bit strong, but that's just personal taste.

Nice rich color, but yet not oversaturated.. Great composition. The only nit pick for me is the hot saturated blue/cyan in the rocks to the right and a little above the Rhododendron, also to the left of the Rhododendron. Also just above the left I just spoke of there is a line that could of been cleaned up. Also the couple blurry flowers, others have mentioned

I believe after we post something, we may find a few things we didn't catch in processing.. I know I'm guilty of that sometimes.

The comments above would not even be mentioned by the general public, they would absolutely love it which I do as well.. Great job !!

Thank you all for pointing out some issues with the image.

I guess the blurred leaves in the bottom of the image might resulted from the windy condition when we took the image. I would check other images with the same composition to see if there is clear ones that could be blended in as Jim has suggested. I double checked the flowers in foreground and all of them are in focus. They looked a bit blur and it might be due to the orton processing and could be easily corrected by reducing the effect.

The over-saturated comment by IndyFab: the flowers and the scene were really saturated as it was after sunset. I might reducing the overall blue tint for the over-saturated feeling.

Most has been said but this is a beautiful, eye catching image. As for the blue... well, it is the "Blue Ridge Parkway"

No need to de saturate the entire blue spectrum, just make a selection around those hot spots of blue, and you will be able to just adjust those area's in PS,other wise you will be messing with the blue in Sky and Mtn's.. Hope that helps
