Spent some time in the Owens Valley of eastern California last week. 95 degrees and clear in Bishop, so I headed up to the White Mtns, and later in the day cold windy clouds rolled in. As thrilling as it was to witness this scene, my fingers froze waiting for the light. What a wacky day of weather!
I recognize that Sierra Wave cloud at the top. Was this Wednesday evening? I was at the overlook before Schulman, and I think I may have greeted you...
Yes, it was, Tim. I was hanging out for a while at the visitor center lot with my doggie in my Sportsmobile van. If you were there, you couldn't have missed it. Too bad we didn't talk it up a bit.
What a cool shot. I like the layers in this. And yeah, it can get cold up there easily.
On Saturday I had gone cherry picking in Palmdale in the morning, and after lunch decided I wasn't that far from Sequoia, so I headed up there on a whim. I had a basic set of camera gear with me and got there about 2 hours before sunset. I got some nice dogwoods shots in, and did a bit of hiking and shooting before it got too dark and I headed back down to SoCal. The point of the story is, I was keeping my eye out there for you, but alas I didn't see any Sportsmobile around. But it sounds like you were on the other side of the mountains.
