Here are a few shots of Ballet Chicago's 20th Anniversary Spring Rep program. Shots range from 1/50 and 8000 ISO (last shot) to most of them being in the range of 1/200 to 1/320 and ISO 2500 to 3200. I'm constantly changing my settings.
Lovely set. Sometimes the background really works with the dancers (particularly the darker ones from 6-9) and sometimes the colors do not jibe as well with the costumes--the purple on blue--along with the obvious texture in the first five.

Agree with you on the colors. The purple is likely a red or yellow , or red and yellow, lights from the side hitting the dancers. Some times, I wish they'd let me control the lighting and color schemes. :-)
Ron my friend these are superb. You managed to outdo yourself one more time. I love your dance images as you well know, but once again I have to comment on your incredible sense of timing in getting the perfect shot when taking images of groups of dancers. It looks like they were posed rather then being in motion. Off the scale awesome skill my friend. Hope all is well with you.

These are so awesome! It's as though they've lit the performers with photogs in mind. lol.
Thanks, Ryan! Sometimes I love the light, like the last shot. Sometimes, I wonder what they're thinking. There is one set where they use spreckled lighting. You don't see those.

Beautiful. I look forward to your ballet posts so much. My Granddaughters (10 and 13) take ballet and my daughter and I photograph their recitals. If it wasn't for your tips and the inspiration I get from your photography I'd still be pulling my hair out. Keep up the GREAT work and thank you.
