I guess I'll jump in as lone contrarian, with the viewpoint that less might be more.

To my eyes it's a great idea, with marvelous processing – but it sort of shouts about the processing. My immediate reaction was 'Oh, Photoshop,' because nature and light just can't conspire that way.

IMO doing just what you've done and then backing off from such extreme contrast, especially the flashy whiteness of the tree, would let me see what you had in mind without the 'Oh, Photoshop' reaction intervening. I wonder if you've tried a less forceful version than this one?

Afterthought: I'm reminded of a big Ansel Adams show that presented a succession of his Moonrise prints, which became more and more dramatic and Wagnerian over time. To collectors, the earlier and less exaggerated prints remain the more highly valued ones!
