This is a flip'n amazing photo. I too love the first shot... the mix of stars, aurora and front lighting blows my mind.
Was this a single image or a stack... I just can't imagine how you held all of these elements together in a single exposure.
Print it big... it deserves to hang on a wall.
bravo,
bruce
Hmmm, for me, it's not quite complete without some lightning and a large asteroid streaking across the sky, but still, not bad!
Simply amazing image(s) Rob. I'm not quite sure I can take it all in at once...it's as if there's too much visual information! I also read your Flickr posting (thanks bobbytan^) with the description of how you shot and stitched this beautiful landscape (first image comprised of 3 shots, the second comprised of 60!)...what great visualization and execution. Congratulations!

Sorry its certainly not a single exposure! I couldnt get all 3 elements in the same shot.
All are taken with an irix 15mm/2.4
The aurora captured on an a7r with a shorter shutter speed
The stars/MW are another exposure for the time limit for trails
The lighthouse and beams are an 80 second exposure where I blocked the lens for all but 2 seconds of the light rotation each time the beams swung past, so its about 20 seconds overall exposure out of those 80

No apology needed! Your image is very creative... I am definitely not one to criticize the mashing of pixels in order to realize one's vision.
Wow, both shots are incredible but that first one is SUPER DUPER INCREDIBLE. I've never seen the MW or auroras in person yet, so how much of what we see in the picture can be seen with the naked eye?
Much appreciation for sharing this photo because it's very inspiring.

Thanks!
Aurora I could clearly see with beams moving, but not really any colour.
MW you can easily see but not as strong/intense
Lighthouse as you see it those beams were bring, just enough mist in the air to set them off and they were rotating quite quickly, if anything it was more intense to the eye
