Don't like the light in her face, and the trash can.
the girl looks artificial.
Like it in b/w ;-)
I like this a lot. Just wondering (and this may seem like a dumb question) but are the lights in the shot and then composited out? Or are they out of the frame?
That's never a dumb question, as I'm prone to do that. The lights in front of her were out of the frame. The lights behind her were in the actual frame, but I cropped them out. I had planned to clone them out, but the crop worked out well.
I am no pro and might be more akin to a backseat driver here. I understand and appreciate that a lot of effort has gone in to be production of the shot. Please don't take it a miss, to me the sprinter looks as if it was grafted in to the background-like it was "photoshopped", which I know is not the case. It is perhaps the glow.

It's the rim lighting that you're referring to. It was a very intentional approach to the shot in the way that I lit the subject. Not everyone's going to like it, but I did it exactly the way I'd been thinking about this shot for many months. It doesn't always work out that way, esp for me.

Clearly a shot taken with strobes positioned to accentuate certain parts of the runner's body. Some Like It Hot (with apologies to a late actress)
Indeed, but with five Yongnuo flashes so I could use them at HSS. And I do like it hot, with no apologies to anyone!

Sweet shot!
How did you trigger the remote flashes, especially since you are using such a fast shutter speed?
One of the reasons I went with Yongnuo (since I knew I would be getting a number of flsahes) are their affordability and that it can do High Speed Sync, or Hyper Speed Sync. I use the Yongnuo YN-622N transmitter to wirelessly fire the Yongnuo speedlights.
