Nice series Herb. #2 is my favorite, what a great looking image, congrats! More proof that these owls do not need luring in order to get great in-flight shots, for those who are willing to put in the time anyway.
Thanks Zack, nor do they need to be chased for shots either like I've seen so much of this past season.

Gret shots Herb I see you use a 1DX II I just order one and reading the manual how do you set up your AF points for shot like these, Thanks in advance
Bill
Hi Bill, I use various AF settings, but for these shorties in a field, I use AF case 2 and I vary between center point eight surrounding, center with 4 cross positioned assists or center with no assist depending on the proximity and or texture of the BGds.
That airshow must be fascinating to see live but your outstanding images allow me to see some of their amazing moves captured in a split-second. As usual, your combination of good light, complimentary background and great camera skills results in a feast for the eyes; what a treat to see these!
Thanks for posting.

Thanks a lot Kim. My only regret was I never filmed wide angle video while I had many in the air around me.
