The Pacific Northwest (especially Oregon) never ceases to amaze me at its astonishing diversity of landscape, especially if one is willing to get a little off the beaten path to find something a bit more original. This special location is on private farming property and the owner is a friend who rarely lets anyone on his land due to more and more people trying to trespass. I always shower him with gifts when he gives me (or my groups) the unforgettable pleasure of camping out here. This spot is very close the location he and his wife married. It is easy to see why!
On this shot we climbed down a bit of a downslope to find a special spot that allowed the river to be unobstructed. Then shot a 10-11 shot panorama (using the Really Right Stuff Nodal Slider) with the camera in the vertical position and I used the Rokinon 14mm (pretty sure that was the lens at the time).
My backlog has gotten out of control in the last couple years and I almost forgot about this image until I accidentally came across it the other day.
I really like this. A damn near perfect cone.
Your processing, the mood, all wonderful.
I've got the RRS Omni Pano Pro setup. I use to use it with my D3 for multi row pano's.
I've found getting the nodal point aligned isn't as crucial as it use to be. Software has really gotten better to stitch images that may suffer from severe parallax.
Very cool spot and shot! Never have shot with a nodal slider but might have to look in to it, esp with the amount of panos I shoot. Can see about a 1degree CW rotation needed here btw.
I think this is your most creative and pleasing image from this area. Really like the symmetry and detail in the foreground - as well as how it frames the "kiss". The sky is just an added bonus. When you going back (now that you are an east coaster)?
