I know Eric and other regular Africa FM'rs will appreciate the significance of this event.
To see the climb and find a pride male lion 15 ft high up in a tree is a very rare and special treat!
Only my 2nd time I have witnessed such an event in all my 35 yrs photographing African wildlife.
It's not uncommon to find lionesses and sub adult males resting in trees, but to see a large male is quite a sight!
For once this was an opportune time to have a flat tyre, as we waited for all other vehicles to leave the area so as not to spoil this occasion, all of a sudden this male decided it was time to climb,
his motivation was a female a little higher up and to the left out of frame that did not descend, he had love on his mind and wanted to be closer to her. She didn't reciprocate and virtually ignored him and continued to snooze.
We fixed the flat tyre without disturbing this amazing scene and left running late back to camp. An amazing sight and such a privilege to witness!!!

That is a very unique scene Marc...imagine a 400+lbs cat ambling up a tree like that..as interesting would be seeing the descent I suspect. Yes, I've seen lionesses and young males in trees and that in itself isn't all that common but a adult male is something very uncommon. Congrats on seeing and documenting it so well.

Me too Eric, that's my only regret,
unfortunately if/when either one descended it would have been in total darkness, plus the fact that we were well overdue with curfew already.
