fred, its wonderful.
Have you noticed any detail degradation merging 16 images? I have had issues (albeit with the a7R). I can only notice it with I compare the detail with a single shot. Tiny movements.

Stunning photograph. Are dead trees a result of pine beetles?
Yes, and the prolonged drought which only recently ended, which weakened trees and made them far more susceptible to beetle infestation. There are hundreds of thousands of such dead trees up and down the Sierra Nevada. A sign of the times, in this otherwise lovely photograph.

Another wall hanger here Fred.
Was this at Tunnel View or up at Artists Point, hard to tell due to the 50mm FL...
This one was from Tunnel View which surprisingly was pretty much empty. Artists Point is always a great choice to escape the crowd.

I've tested this a lot and could not detect any resolution degradation with the A7RII. However, we must make sure the ground is stable and wind is low. It would be nice if the app aligned all images before combining them but so far I didn't find this to be an issue during the right conditions. I never tested this app on the A7R.

Unfortunately yes and the issue was aggravated with the drought.

Your images from there is sweet. Still like the sharpness you've done to all of them. Got that same scene on my apple computer screen saver as well and always wondered where this place was.
Gorgeous image Fred, with loads of atmosphere! I've only been there once, but I want to get back badly, and this image just creates a stronger desire to make the trip. And even though it's a small detail (compared to the massive presence of El Cap) in the many images shot from this spot, I've noticed what a big difference it makes in the balance of the overall image to have a lot of water coming over Bridalveil Fall, and you had that here. Nicely done!
Fred I was traveling the past week so catching up on the forum. This is an absolutely fantastic composition. Love the moodiness and atmosphere of this shot. The Sony SR app really does an amazing job of providing the look of an ND filter but the lack of shadow noise in this exposure is really impressive.
