This is great stuff. I'm blown away by the quality of the slide scan. Just ever so annoyed by the little black dust speck you left on it But excellent execution of a fine idea.
I like it! What a fantastic opportunity, and you did such a good job. I do like the toned-down highlights a bit better. Just beautiful. Thanks for sharing.
I want to give a huge Thank You to all of you looking, following and making such supportive comments! I was even shocked to see that for one small moment I was in the running for thread of the week... I would never have thought any shot of mine would be at that level.... very humbling to be sure (congrats to the talented Ms Hollaway on another wonderful set of images).
Trying to be perfectly anal... I reworked that shot again trying to get the tones closer to the original... This was my final and I have ordered my invitations to their anniversary with this latest image (the one on the right).
These photos are gorgeous portraits of two people very important to you. Think about the details of what these photos portray for those of us who do not know them.
I think this is a good portrait of aging. Your mother's eyes are the same bright eyes 50 years later. Her smile is the same, too. Her hair, although a different color, still highlights her face. Her hands, while older and showing more wrinkles, still caress your father's shoulders as they did 50 years ago. She has the same ring on, showing the continuity of their lives.
Your father has aged, but still shows the facial features of 50 years ago. His eyes are as bright as your mother's. His smile shows a bit of aging but retains the essence of his twenty-something smile. His shoulders look as broad as they were in the earlier photo.
Perhaps most important, they look as happy in the later photo as they do in the earlier one. They obviously have had a good 50 years together. Great photos!

Funny, all votes for your thread have now disappeared...
