Great set! I'll see you at the locks on the 5th. I'll be the guy with shorts, sunscreen and a tropical drink in hand. Did you go to Sax-Zim?
If you are going to wear shorts, I hope it's -20 degrees.... We struck out at the bog. The Temp was -26 and no owls.

Nice set Larry. Not sure I'll be able to make it up there for the BBQ again this year. That's the weekend after next and I'm just getting over the crud that's been going around lately. Also not sure I could gather the few folks who would be interested in carpooling up with me for the event. It might be more compelling if there was a stronger population of eagles in the area.
I've been told I'm coming to Iowa in early April for my father-in-law's birthday; I don't suppose there are many eagles around then are there?
Howdy,
You will miss a good party with or without the eagles.
The first two weeks of April always seems to have many many American White Pelicans fishing below the dam. Go to the Illinois side and walk out as far as you can go and you will get some super shots of the Pelicans and Cormorants in their breeding plumage.

Kinda far to go for a parking lot party (2000 miles round trip) though I think it'd be fun and I'd like to meet the other photogs who gather up there. We get a lot of cormorants (had two in the pond by my house this morning) and lots of other pelicans and wading and shorebirds here in FL. I sometimes get my fill of those kinds of birds! Was really hoping to zero in on your eagles like I did three years ago the first time I was there. Maybe next year will be THE year!
L&D14 is a Mecca of sorts
Everyone should try to go at least once.
I too got skunked there on eagles but came home with a GHO, and everyone knows 1 owl equals 40 eagles!
Plus I enjoyed the chile-fest via Larry which was worth the trip alone.
Wow, wonderful eagle images, Larry! Nos. 2 and 4 are truly outstanding although the eagle didn't have any fish in its claw.
I remembered we were planning of going to the LD 14 several years ago but had to back out because of the severe flight conditions. We didn't get our flight fare back either because the actual flight wasn't cancelled. Oh, well.
