This family had hired me this summer for a wildflower session, which unfortunately got rained out. We made up for it with an autumn shoot. These guys look like they jumped right off the cover of a magazine. So fun to work with too and such sweet kids!
You've certainly mastered "backlit in a field", no doubt about that.
I like it when you get out of your comfort zone and try new things, keep those coming as well!
Number 20 is what I am talking about. Stunning background. Clone bright stick out from coming out of family member's leg, though. Quite distracting from an otherwise fine image.
it would be easy to conclude that these images are so good because the subjects are good looking, but in fact the reason is largely because of your lighting and post process. Really great job. Can you tell us if/how, in addition to natural late in the day backlighting, you used flash (which if you did looks so natural) and some of your post technique? Thanks!
These are beautiful Lisa, number 13 is really special for me. You're truly a master. Many rely a lot on processing, but I feel processing can only do so much. Your processing is suburb, but I feel your ability to connect with your subject is the game changer that puts it over the top. Thanks for sharing.
, God, aren't there any ugly people in Arizona? When NASA establishes a settlement on Mars they surely must put Kingman on the top of the gene pool list.
What a terrific set!!! Beautifully posed! The little girl especially is either naturally graceful or very well directed. In #20, how her legs are crossed and gracefully holding her Mom's hand and # 11, how her leg is theatrically kicked back are examples. The backlight is just gorgeous and it is beautifully balanced frontally. It's doesn't appear you used fill flash (I can't find any giveaway catchlights). If you used a reflector, it is so subtle, I can't find evidence. You have a great skill at reading the light. I can only conclude that this set has been masterfully post-processed! You are to be commended. This is a set the world's finest photographers would be proud of!!!
I can't imagine the family being anything less than ecstatic with the results.
Would you mind sharing your preferred lens from the shoot, your general setting employed (mainly how much DOF is best, especially when you've got more than one or two subjects who may or may not be on the same focal plane) and what additional lighting you utilized?
Just trying to pick your brain a little and please PM me if you feel this would derail from your lovely presentation here.
