My first reaction was of rejection of the image on principal. I come from a family of chemical dependents and my brother spent time in prison for Meth. My initial reaction to dismiss this as BS was quickly replaced with the idea that the image stopped me in my tracks and got my attention like a punch from Mike Tyson. A great story to go with the image and thank you for sharing the images. I'd go with #1, but #3 is powerful also.
It looks the closest to reality - that is, it doesn't attempt to visually tell me the emotion I "should" be feeling when viewing the subject through washed-out color or black and white, each of which we use to associate with "gritty" or "underworld" elements. Your choice of bright, saturated, normal color in the top humanizes the subject by bringing him into a visually familiar medium.
