Not sure if this should be in people photography or digital art but anyway this image was inspired by a dream I had last year but only had time recently to bring it to life. Model was shot in the studio while the dramatic sky was shot earlier this year after a storm. After combining the sky and model, I created the reflective water and ring in photoshop. C&C welcome.
FANTASTIC! Well executed. It even appears that the direction of the light from the sky shot fairly closely matches the light on the model, which I think is something that's too often overlooked in composite images.
I wish the image were a little smaller for presentation here as it doesn't fit on my 1080 screen and requires scrolling. I'm guessing a 4K screen fits it all though.
Thanks for noticing Jonathan. I shot the model with the background in mind and lit it accordingly for a seamless composite. Sorry about the size, I'm used to my 27" 4k iMac and always forget about the resolution now.
Thank you. I'm intending to do a series of Surreal images in this style with the common theme being dramatic skies and water. Hoping to shoot a chef next, followed by a musician which I'm looking forward to.
Probably should mention that the sky was shot using a Canon 5DIII, model shot using a Canon 5DsR. Lens for both was a Canon 24-70mm f2.8L II.
For those interested, the reflection was created by copying and flipping the sky, compressing the image slightly and adjusting a bit of colour and exposure to darken. Added a slight blur as well. The same was done for the model. Ripples and ring were created using the smudge tool and liquify tool. Brush size increased in size as I work out from the centre of the ring.
I'm sure there are action or plug ins available that could create ripples easier and quicker.
Really nice. The reflection of her toes draw my attention quite a bit with a Picasso or Escher quality that is not echoed elsewhere. Just a small item with your impressive project.
