So we sheet states a field of view is 38°. That's consistent with FF. A perfect 65mm on FF would have a field of view of 36.8°. FF it is.
ah, good. i wasn't sure what the angle corresponded to.
Definitely an interesting lens - for the vast majority of pictures I want to take, I'd rather have a 1:2 lens that is one stop faster vs a 1:1 lens. I was hoping Zeiss would announce a Batis 100/2 1:2 macro, but if that doesn't happen by the time this 65/2 becomes available, I'll be very tempted by it.
1:2 Macro with F/2 aperture would fit my need for travel photography where I want to get closer than the usual MFD of prime lenses to take pictures of trinkets in flea markets or flowers but not super close like for critters.
It might even replace my Loxia 50/2
It's quite interesting to see that Voigtlander goes on a full new design instead of repackaging other "niche" VM lenses such as 35/1.2 or 50/1.1

Man, the rainbow lines really do not look good on black, this probably needed to drop those or do a silver front like the SL
The rainbow, actually RGB, lines are a traditional part of the exterior of all Voigtländer Apo Lanthars. It belongs there. The name "lanthar" is misleading, since they have moved away from lanthanium or lantanides for making ED glass.

Why it's interesting? Nothing new.
Canon has his MP-E 65mm for more than 10 years.
They are totally different lenses. The Canon MP-E 65/2.8 goes from 1x-5x magnification, whereas the Voigtländer 65/2 is a general purpose macro lens and goes from infinity focus down to 0.5x magnification. Totally different beasts.

Added to my short list too although it's simply been "announced", so who knows when it will eventually ship. (I'm still waiting for the promised but never delivered 75/1.8 Classic Heliar for Nikon AIS and Canon EOS.)
Second being upset by this. I have a full set of the SL II lenses and this 75mm and a 125 would be great to have that matches. Looks like that will never happen.
I also REALLY do not enjoy the new design of the 58mm, I understand why you would promote a design similar to your older lenses (3 stripes here) but why would you ape the design of another manufacturer? All it does is come of like a ripoff instead of a unique product.
Ripoff of whom? Certainly not Nikon, who was copying common design cues if the time. Maybe it's a Zeiss ripoff - they certainly were designing lenses that have this look in the fifties before Nikon. But CV designs have always echoed zeiss; the app labrhars look like early Zeiss teles, and the later sl11 lenses look like Zeiss ZE/f
