Makayla is a sweet girl who came to us with specific ideas of what she wanted. She came prepared with a lot of outfits and she had no problem posing. Diane managed the first evening shoot. (And I have asked her to post her photos right after mine.) We had a great time and tried to get in everything Makayla wanted. We suggested a 2nd evening in a nearby town and she was thrilled. Diane wasn't feeling well so I did this session with one lens and no reflector.
We had so many great poses and looks, it was difficult to pick just a few favorites.

Makayla Rose certainly is a great person to work with. She has a well developed sense of who she is, and loves fashion. She came prepared with several ideas of what she was looking for and I found her so easy to work with.
Greg and I often work together and share various aspects of the shoots. Some times Greg is behind the camera and others, I am. Sometimes I am running the reflector and or flash; others, he is.We'd love to know if there are other couples who shoot sessions together, and how you handle it.

PS Makayla will be doing a goddess shoot with me/us sometime this fall. Looking forward to working with this young woman again soon!
Nice to be able to explore with a model so able and willing to participate. You certainly got a nice variety within and across the sets. All are terrific and I am sure she loved them. I am particularly fond of #2 in each set. Shooting partially blocked may not be everyone's cup of tea but I think it works very well. Her eyes have a particular sparkle that is unmatched in the shoot I believe. Her hair looks great flowing to the side. My only quibble: her nails need fresh paint. I like the separation and basic color combinations in the the second #2. Nice fading road behind. I might try to lower the brightness in her forehead and clone that stray strand of hair. A very enjoyable set.

Thank you Brev00. I may end up fixing her nails in post (if she chooses to print that one). We had a lot of fun doing this and having a model who wants to show all these different looks is great.

Brev00 - Makayla Rose certainly enjoys being in front of the camera and knows what she is looking for which definitely made our work so much more enjoyable as well. I loved taking her ideas and adding the touches that would enhance them into the mix. She went with the flow moving herself about with such ease and grace. I truly was a pleasure working with her, and I am really looking forward to doing a goddess shoot with her soon.
Shooting partially blocked may not be for everyone but it worked beautifully. Makayla knew she wanted a shot like this and we knew just the gate to use to get it for her. She loved it too! Yes she does need a manicure and we will give it to her. ;P I also wish we had asked her to bring her fingers a bit more together, but that shot comes from the day Greg was lone shooting and that's when it's easier for little details to slip past.

glowhunter - Thank you for your comments. We took many of the shots in 5a and none were what we'd consider a really good shot. This was one of Makayla's ideas that she wanted. I think there is a lot to learn about how to do this shot well and we have more to learn. The angles are quiet challenging!
DaveOls - You raise a topic that is interesting to debate. You note that she is more attractive without her glasses; however, she does wear glasses and they happen to be fashionably large. She doesn't wear them all the time but it is certainly a big part of who she is. In attempting to deal with this we decided to shoot with and without and worked to create looks that complemented each. In the shot below we had her slip her glasses into her pocket to let the viewer know that she also wears them.

Thanks Kirk. Diane and I find it easier to collaborate every time we do this. Having two sessions allows us to change rolls a bit and gives us an appreciation for the little thing that go into a good portrait session.

Thank you Don. The mirror was also Makaylas idea. She had an example and we just ran with it. I felt the reflection was a bit large so I took another of Diane's photos and tried to make the reflection smaller. I like this expression but Diane liked the one she posted.We would love to know what other members like.
I like both images. In the first, my initial thought.... looks almost like she's holding up a photo of her self as her image fills the whole frame of the mirror.
The second photo below, you clearly can tell it's her reflection in the mirror. I don't know. I've gone back and forth looking at the two images and I really like them both! Can't go wrong with either. Thank you for posting these...really enjoyed viewing them
