Nice shots Ron. Hope that other redhead shows up for you soon. Whats another 8hrs in a sweltering hide?..
TFS
Geoff
Thanx Geoff. The other redhead shows up daily - just not when I'm in the blind.

Excelent work Ron. Bring some dry ice in the blind with you. Today it was 94 with crazy humidity and no wind till the T-Storms started rolling through
Morris
Thanx Morris. I would try the blind in the morning, but it's morning visit is before there is enough light.

Beautiful, Ron. Tough to stay in the blind but definitely worth it.

Oh, these are just wonderful shots. Makes me want to reach out and touch the feathers on that pileated. And that background on the bluejay!!
Sue
Thanx Sue. I only posted the BJ because of the bg.

Congrats on the pileated Ron. I had the same problem where they spooked when I stepped outside. My solution was windex and paper towels on both sides of the glass. I would use the house as a blind and shoot out of various windows.
Thanx Herb. I find that windows work best if you can shoot perpendicular to the glass. The more of an angle, the more distortion I get. I have to shoot at an angle for the feeders, so there is some distortion.

Good job, Ron. Its hot up here, too. Seems our birds have all gone boreal to beat the heat. You managed some good stuff in a tough environment. Thanks for sharing.
Thanx Mikey.

Lovely images with good exposures and clarity, I think the heat in the blind was worth it.

Thanx Wendell. I'm planning on going back in the blind, but I'm waiting for the heat index to go below 100* F.

Thanx Shreeni - I hope you and yours are all doing well.
Beautiful work, Ron! Stunning image of the Pileated with that gleam in its eye. Though you didn't get your target species, your time in the sweat lodge certainly paid off.

Well done! I have yet to get a nice woodpecker shot. I set up a blind to try to shoot some skittish orioles, but they were afraid of the blind
Thanx Lilki. When I set up the blind, I try to leave it up for a week or two. That way the birds tend to become acclimated to it.

Thanx Kim. I was happy with what I got, but I want that Redhead badly...

Great set, I would like to see your blind setup, I'm in the market for one.
Thanx Stephen. I use an Ameristep Outhouse Blind
It's easy to set up and take down, and fairly compact stowed.

There're all great, Ron. I have a soft spot for the noisy blues. I use to see one or two in Chicago and do miss them.
Thanks for sharing.
Thanx Phillip. I like the BJs too, but there is a gang of five decimating our suet on a daily basis. I'm guessing it's a family unit.
