Some of these have fake bokeh, right? 6 looks most apparent in the foreground. Or am I crazy. They are fantastic shots regardless and nobody would ever notice. Just asking from a technical image standpoint.

Nextelbuddy, chub level shots achieved!
it has that feel to it certainly, I looked in the 200F2 thread the other night and the bokeh they get from the same subject to camera ratio distance is just insane, back ground melts to nothing recognizable.

no fake bokeh, that foreground bokeh is real though i will agree now that I look at it more it is very annoying. My guess is there is a slight hill right there that has no transition so it causes this weird out of nowhere foreground bokeh.
That makes sense, with that hard edge ending in the foreground I was confused as to what was going on. I only asked about it / caught it because someone posted an image of a newborn that they shot in our local photography group. The image had very bad fake bokeh. They took the lasso tool in Photoshop and circled around the baby (poorly, might I add) and then hit filter -> gaussian blur. The hard edge of the fake bokeh was disorienting. Your images are 10,000x better, but I just had to know if it was real or not.
Question for anyone who shot with this lens and the 200 F2 VR II. Or VR. What would you say is harder to nail the focus with on someones eyes, the 200 F2 shot at F2, or the 105 1.4E shot at 1.4 I would think the 200 F2 might be harder because it's heavier, but wasn't sure since the 105 is 1.4
Just a quick heads up for those of you who may be flirting with the idea of getting this lens...
I just noticed there are two of these for sale on the buy/sell board here right now
No affiliation with either seller, just mentioning it
I'm actually surprised to see them showing up used already.
Best wishes,
Don

I just sent that same message to Lightsearcher through PM.

i'm never surprised by people who sell so quickly. Many people have Just enough money to get the latest and greatest but then buyers remorse kicks in right after its return date.
That lens is a superstar, in good hands..."Angry" can keep posting video after video to make it so bad, but images posted here say everything about it.
I wish, I can afford it...

I'm now rolling with 24-70 VR and 105 1.4E. You HAVE to try the new 24-70, it's a game changer.
So after shipping the 58G, I got home and started browsing the B&S for another 58G... I think I may have a mid life crisis maybe I'll try the Sigma 50
Joseph. I have the 58, 105, and 24-70VR. They are indeed, all great. I'm going to shoot 58/105 on two bodies. But when I only want one lens, I'll bring the zoom.
That would be my ideal kit as well. At the moment I am making do with 24mm 1.8g and 58mm but the moment I submit my thesis (and hopefully pass ) I am going to treat myself with the 105mm 1.4

Honestly, in my experience the Siggy 50 (I reckon you're talking about the non-Art) is a one-trick-pony. It's really good for close-up portraits with creamy bokeh (but not swirly ). Over the distance, my copy is pretty bad at anything larger than f/4...
