To compare the bokeh and DOF of 105 1.4E against 200 f2, it does require shooting subject 140 + cm height....
Thanks for the tip but subject size has absolutely nothing to do with the bokeh or DOF of the lens. This test was done because people were wondering what the rendering was like near MFD.

Ok. Make myself clear. To shoot a full body portrait of an adult, you have to stay away from subject. The shooting distance make big difference.

I'd never get rid of the 70-200mm
If I ever loose all my gear and had to start again, the 70-200mm is the first one I would buy. For me It's such a versatile lens for all sorts of shooting.
Fair enough...I was just trying to justify this lens for a hobbiest like myself
So I went to my local camera shop here and wow this thing has girth!. Brought my D810 and Zeiss 100. We did a few live view tests with another D810 beside it and I gotta say, I'm pretty damn impressed. They fortunately had one available to rent for the weekend so tomorrow evening I'll have it for a few days and really compare for my needs. For a mere $40, it just made sense. I'll put together a mini-review of various things sometime next week.
Picked up my copy of the mini-chub today. My god is this thing incredible. The guy at the camera shop stepped outside and let me snap a preview picture of him. Now to get this thing out and actually shoot with it.

Alternative offer: send it to me for... recycling! I'll pay postage and won't charge for the recycling.
BTW... I also recycle 200 f/2's.
Neat! Send me a pre-paid envelope. I need to send the box and packaging materials to you for recycling. My Nikon lens boxes are taking up too much room on my office shelves.

This lens has so much character! Would getting rid of the 70-200 2.8 v2 be missed if one was to get this??
The 70-200 is about versatility. It's good at everything. It's like a safety net almost. When in doubt use it.
The 105E is slower to focus and you can't zoom to 200, and it feels like it weighs about the same! But yeah, if you don't need 200mm or fast focus... do it. I am stunned at how good this thing is.
Maybe it's just NAS but I woke up today thinking about a D810 I picked up my Df with 105 1.4E attached and it just felt... awkward. The lens is too heavy with this body. Anyone else with a Df and 105 1.4E?

Joseph,
what you really need to do is sell the lens, forget the D810 and sell me the 105.
