Got it! Awesome lens. Just a few snaps around the house and I already have a feeling that I'm going to love this lens. Best part is, I have a photoshoot tonight with a very photogenic couple for some engagement pictures. Lens is all fine tuned and ready to rock.

Looking forward to seeing some of those!
Playing with my 105 has had to take second place to sanding and oiling the newly fitted reclaimed wood floor in the house....
So after missing the shipment twice (due to signature requirement), I finally got mines! Not yet fine tuned, but pretty close to being spot on on my D750. Not the best test shots, but wanted to share
So is there anything to this lack of micro contrast bs with this lens? Angry photographer keeps belly aching about. I mean, I seen comparison shots with this and the 105 DC, contrast looked about the same to me. If it's lacking something i'm not seeing it, and if I don't see it I know my clients aren't going to. But maybe it's something I just don't see.

The Zeiss 85mm otus has the best micro contrast on the market. I have the Zeiss 85 milvus which is a step below and this new Nikon 105 looks a lot like my Zeiss 85 in terms of sharpness and contrast, thanks to the three ED glass elements. There is virtually no CA in this 105. It does have some longitudinal ca (the green and Rey colors) but they are difficult to produce. I haven't photographed any text in a book to check, but I'm happy with what I see. Zeiss like quality

There is nothing to it, and less to the angry photographer. He was recently caught sock puppeting on DPReview trying to support his indefensible arguments. There is no correlation between the number of elements and the amount of micro-contrast. As another poster pointed out the Otus is the king in the 85-ish FL and is packed with glass. Also the 200 F2 which I know you are fond of would serve to disprove his assertion.
I think the angry photographer is a social media optimized Ken Rockwell who takes controversial and hyperbolic stances with a whiff of credibility to increase website or youtube hits. I've never watched any of the angry photographers videos and after being exposed to his stances in forums, I never will.
