I may be biased but I prefer the one o five shot
It's crazy. I actually like the extra compression a little more on the 200, but overall I like the 105 photos more I think. I know I definitely prefer the color and tones on the 105 a lot more, and even though it has less compression there is just something more special about the rendering.
I actually like that the 105 shows a bit more of the environment and is not so compressed. You are dead on about the color and rendering of the 105. I really really ❤️ this lens

I don't have the 105f1.4 myself, only the 200f2vrII so I can't do comparisons.
One of the things that I love about my 200f2 is that the images strait out of the camera (Df) look perfect to me. The colors look true to me, so I never feel the need to touch saturation, contrast, definition or sharpness at all. Sometimes I'll crop or straighten, but that's it. Is the 105 that way too?
I also love the lightning fast and accurate auto focus as well as the creamy bokeh but I'll admit the excessive weight can get tiring after a long day. It's a price I'm willing to pay for all the goodness that lens offers though.
A lot of nice images here with the 105! I enjoy viewing them😊

It's preference, but I like the 105's colors a lot more. I had the 200 F2 and sold it after buying and using the 105 for a month. The color is definitely warmer on the 105.
Daughter need a headshot for some applications. This pretty much SOOC except for some cropping. I continue to be amazed at how good the RAW files on my D800e look with this lens. No need to add contrast, sharpening or saturation in PP.
@Hardcore, there's something in your pictures, a kind of "fresh clarity " that makes me think this lens should be on my shopping list, even though I should sell my 35/85 duo to make a 24/58/105 trio...
Then I remember that your pictures in the 58/1.4 thread are also amazing. So, at the end, I think it's 1.your talent and 2.your processing skills that make the difference...
Thanks for sharing!

Those times when a baby otter joins you for a walk with your pup!
Excellent! Love that otter. I'm surprised you were able to get that close, but he is a juvenile so he's not so scared.... I guess. You have a great looking dog as well.

Incredible shot of a baby otter !!
So many wonderful images here. ONE more day until mine arrives.
Yours arrives in one more day? Oh boy, I bet you can't wait. I really enjoy mine a lot now that I've had it serviced and cleaned by Nikon, there was a lot of dust behind the front element. I would love to get some wildlife shots like Corey did, except here in central Texas right now it is very hot and very dry and it's not even worth getting out much because of the heat. I really look forward to seeing what you can do with your 105 mm. Post some pics whatever arrives!!!
