Steve means is that HER hand. It does look like a fist coming in to pop her on the jaw. Ok, let's forget about the hand and concentrate on the rest of this image.
Positives -- love the toning (duo?); her eyes are beautiful; interesting position in the frame; I like the lighting.
Negatives -- the headband is a little hot, has lost a bit of detail; too close to backdrop
I didn't get a first impression about the hand being a problem. Later, yes, it doesn't need to be there, but it still didn't bother me.
I like the rest of the photo, it's simplicity especially. She's standing too close to the background to be able to blur it, but it's so plain that it matters little.
Lovely shot. I wasn't troubled by the hand or that she was right up against the wall, FWIW. I do agree the light was a little too hot on her right side blowing out the headband and her cheek, but that's a taste thing and some people will like it that way.
She's basically sitting on the floor with her back against the wall. The wall had a nice wallpaper so I thought why not... Perhaps I should've gone with f/2.8 or wider for more oof background?
Her hand situation didn't bother me. But I can definitely how it could look like someone else's fist! haha
The light I used was a Godox V860II-S coupled with a B&H 40" folding beauty dish + the diffuser. I kep it relatively close to her. How could I have the too hot area situation remedied?
Well, it's never super easy to judge while you're shooting (if only the DSLR makers would add raw histograms), but ideally you would've shot the image 0.5-0.75 stops darker, then raised exposure 0.5-0.75 stops in ACR. That would've looked the same overall, except that the headband wouldn't be blown out and you could recover it by pulling the Highlight slider to the left.

I'm going to be contrarian on the hand ... it's a natural expression of self awareness and shyness ... it fits with the shot and keeps it from being too sterile.
A little hot on the right side of her face (our left).
Pull the light back some - I like the wall texture but you could try moving here away from it on the next shot and open up the lens some
A std. 3 light technique might work better also
Thank for the feedback. I was stuck with only one speed light and a beauty dish. Had forgotten my other flash. Still beating myself over it. Haha Oh well.. Lesson learned
