.... as you well know to obtain loon head feather detail requires a full head shot with something like 300 f/2.8II stopped down to f/5.6 and shot on a 5DSR. I could pull down highlights and make the breast look nice and grey and show all sorts of weird details!!

3 and 4 are just superb indeed. And #1 is a great balance between the whites and the blacks; always a challenge with loon shots and there is always some trade off. I'm coming your way next year for loon shots!!!
