These are just a couple of studio pics I did of my little guy as he's turning 3 this week! He is looking so grown up to me. I took these in my garage studio using natural light.
If I didn't like the eyes this way, I wouldn't have done them this way. It's all personal preference. All I did was lighten them a touch, a bit of saturation and sharpening.

Everything is personal preference. I'm just stating my opinion. Take it with a grain of salt.
Lisa, these are lovely. I find #2 particularly engaging.
I shoot portraits in my garage frequently. The light there can be quite special and very flattering. The skin, particularly on children, often has a soft glow like you have here.
You've done a nice job giving the light some directionality. Many try this and face the garage too squarely which can give a very flat light.
Lisa....you nailed it! Gorgeous light, almost three dimensional. You can move to the left and to the right and his beautiful eyes seem to follow. I love the simple lighting. You captured his soul. I know you are proud of this little man. It's clearly apparent that he wants to please him Mom. One of the best I've seen.
Wonderful set; the simplicity of the image belies the skill behind it. So often complexity hides and distracts --- in your work the elements are clear and logical --- and work together to create wonderful images.
