Yes, and to my knowledge, none are paid. Some are on this forum, ask them. I believe that even some of them have mentioned that here, although I cannot find a link to it at the moment.

They are pros and they are hired. Whether it is money exchanging hands, free products, or reduce prices, they get compensated. Do you think they do it for free?

Your original "argument" was that no Japanese company hires pro photographers. Now you claim that they don't get paid. I'm out of this conversation. Good luck to you.

Dpreview is up! https://www.dpreview.com/reviews/olympus-om-d-e-m1-mark-ii

quote "It's not perfect, but the E-M1 II's autofocus system is the best we've seen from a mirrorless ILC."

Sounds very promising!

Maybe it's just me getting grumpy in older age, but I'm tired of the endless gushing that "reviewers" seem to heap on new gear. In the latest dpreview, one of the people listed as "Not intended for" is the very definition of most photographers I know - people looking for ultimate IQ! Yet the EM II is the best thing since sliced bread? Really? I'm confused. I'm sure it's a very capable bit of technology but I'd love to see reviews that actually review gear rather than advertise it.

Note that I've owned a ton of m43 gear, including the Pen-F and enjoy using it, especially it's tiny, excellent lenses. BUT. I keep switching back to larger sensor cameras for one simple reason. IQ. Because for most photographers that's what we're looking for.

No?

Again - I'm sure this is a wonderful camera but I gaurantee that a few months from now the real reactions will start as folks invest their hard earned cash into the system and find out its limitations. Limitations that advertising (I mean review) sites tend to gloss over.

Ignore me if you are offended - I'm just venting about gear hype.

IQ - feel uncountable repeating myself, but just take a look at BobbyTan's pictures. We don't all get the same results. No matter the sensor size. So I could walk around with a medium format camera and my pictures would look the same. Same with you and most everyone else. If the better quality larger sensor camera makes you feel better pixel peeping at your snaps, the more power to you.

re: IQ, every now and then, when I find myself pixel peeping and worrying about IQ, I read an article like this after which I relax and carry on taking picture that win competitions and make me money via gallery sales etc

http://theonlinephotographer.typepad.com/the_online_photographer/2016/03/more-micro-43-vs-medium-format.html

from which "But when you push away from that center and head for the edges, where various parameters get pushed and stressed, that's where Micro 4/3 (or any digital, really) wins out. And it doesn't just "pull ahead." For high ISO, Micro 4/3 slaughters medium format film"

dpreview just posted their review.

https://www.dpreview.com/reviews/olympus-om-d-e-m1-mark-ii

The E-M1 II's autofocus system sets a new benchmark for mirrorless interchangeable lens cameras, but isn't without its flaws. Continuous autofocus at 18 fps using a single point or group of points results in a very good hit rate, though continuous autofocus tracking during those bursts is somewhat less reliable. You will sometimes have a nearly 100% hit rate, but sometimes the system will get distracted and shoot off to the background halfway through the burst (this happened regardless of what our 'C-AF Lock' setting was, but be sure to experiment with it depending on your shooting situation). Importantly, auto focus acquisition for tracking is very, very fast, so if the camera does lose focus during a burst, you can quickly release the shutter and half-press again to re-initiate focus on your intended subject.

Compensation comes in many forms, indeed, but if I try to buy groceries with an OMD-EM2, its likely the clerk will tell me to stuff off.

So why don't we all shoot with iPhones then? I already said I love m43 - I'm just tired of all the hype that surrounds a new camera, most of which will be shot down within a few months. AF capabilities is a prime example of this. I don't pixel peep but I have tried printing older photos (at large sizes) that I took with m43 cameras where I deeply regretted not keeping my Canon 5D I. Same goes for anything low light and printed.

But like I said, I'm just being grumpy. But I will say "I told you so" when the first reports of limitations start coming in from surprised folks...

Just to prove that I do print m43 - the following shot was printed 13 feet wide and was taken with the Pen-F. (But I can't help but wonder how the ff equivalent would have printed.)

Very nice, from a crop of just the one image file or a composite pano?

(Mine only get to 6ft as I can't get them into my car otherwise but I do have a 22ft wide pano waiting for that rich client with big walls and an even bigger wallet (composite of 20+ frames of boats in the Round The Island race rounding the Needles) )

No. If you don't like the reviews of new gear, don't read them. If most photographers thought IQ was the most important thing, they would all be shooting with MF & LF. Why do you think many photographers prefer croppers to FF?
Why do you think the micro 4/3 system was developed in the first place and many still embrace the concept? Not because of IQ.

Actually I use m43 BECAUSE of the IQ...very good and in a smaller package. Not everyone likes DXO sensor analysis, but take a look at this comparison between the Canon 7Dmark2 and the em-1.
https://www.dxomark.com/Cameras/Compare/Side-by-side/Canon-EOS-7D-Mark-II-versus-Olympus-OM-D-E-M1___977_909
Both dynamic range and colour sensitivity are BETTER with the olympus until past ISO800. Even then it's pretty even. So yes, I realize there are other metrics to judge quality, but the point is that the image quality is very good with the m43 system.

Firstly, this is an awesome shot! And you made a 13" feet wide print from your 20mp m43 sensor? That is freaking amazing. How did you do that? Did you uprez the file through a proprietary software? How big is your final file size?

That or hi res. The penf gives you 80mp raw or 50mp JPEG. If that is not enough resolution I don't know what is.
