Not a bird pic but an example of the D500's impressive low light performance. This was shot in the Ape Cave, Washington State, in pitch black conditions illuminated by a head mounted LED light in the 5-10 lux range (100 lumens).
It's rodeo season again! Here is one image from a local rodeo. To see several others from the same rodeo, check out my post in the FM Sports Corner forum (a first for me): https://www.fredmiranda.com/forum/topic/1498701

its not really like one has a choice here. this is a USNPS cultivation site in a combined actual wetlands park near Washington, DC. these people get really into it and i'm very lucky to work with them. no dyes in the water here. quite a bit of muck though. just a varied environment and way too much sun, temp and humidity this particular day
My daughter's rescue Greyhound having the time of her life at the beach. These dogs run FAST and even though she was coming straight at me at full tilt, the AF tracking nailed her every time. Greyhounds can reach a full speed of 70 kilometres per hour (43 mph) within 30 metres (98 ft), or six strides from start, traveling at almost 20 metres per second (66 ft/s) for the first 250 metres. So you can imagine she was really travelling as she was an ex racing dog and won a few races.
Took this last night of our super active 2 year old Cocker Spaniel - Charlie in deep shade.
It's a jpeg from the D500 with just the lightest NR at ISO6400 (NR set to off in camera). The detail it retains (for a jpg) is quite amazing for a DX crop camera. No additional sharpening applied.
