Purple Mountain Majesty... under a gorgeous fire-orange sunrise sky.
Color me jealous Tim... wonderfully seen, captured (nice choice of 200mm), and processed.

That is some pretty intense color Tim! Wow. Sky full of orange. Must have been great to see in person.
Indeed it was Ken. It also wasn't what I went there to photograph! Thanks!

Excellent image, Tim. You've got a reason for it to be your new favorite spot. Is that Puget Sound on the right or just fog or both?
Rex
Rex, there may be some of Puget Sound under the fog. From that spot you can see bits and pieces of Puget Sound. Thanks!

Amazing image Tim that would make for an impressive print. I think I'd keep that favorite spot of yours.
I've been there many times Louie Thanks!

Tim, wonderful image! What a great location. I think I might know where this, although I have never been there (but it is on my list of places to check out). You might want to play a bit with the micro-contrast (e.g., clarity) in this image. Increasing that just a touch on the western flank of Mount Rainier might look nice. But, your image is just great as is!
Keith W.
Thanks for the tip Keith. I have never seen another person in this spot, others go there for sure but not many and even fewer to take photographs.

Thank you all for taking time to leave the nice words, I really do appreciate them
First of all I love the colors here! Second I like the layers too. Only thoughts I have to better it simple comes from what ever the light offered can do, would be cool to capture some spill light on the mountain. That sky is stunning Tim, great image.

Maybe as we approach summer and the sun rises a bit farther north in the sky the chances for different light off of the mountain will be possible. The only problem there is getting up in the morning early enough to catch the sunrise!

Great to hear from you Socrate, it has been a long while.
That's a beautiful image, Tim! I love getting out for sunrise shots, but here in the Mid-Atlantic, we aren't blessed with such awesome topography ! The colors, clouds, majestic mountain... you got it all and your efforts to get to this location paid off!
She's looking good! I liked your comment about a 2-mile hike in the dark. When 410 is open, I drive to the parking lot at Tipsoo Lake and walk 200 feet
